Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines is a full-service airline for people who want a conventional long-haul carrier with cabins, baggage rules, lounges, and the usual airport choreography. By our assessment, its strongest side is the steady, businesslike feel that a major national airline is supposed to provide, especially on long routes where routine matters. The trade-off is that this kind of airline is never simple or cheap to use in the way low-cost carriers can be; the ticket is only part of the cost in time and hassle. In practice it is about check-in counters, boarding groups, seat assignments, and the patience that air travel always asks for. Against budget airlines it is more polished and more structured; against the flashiest global carriers it competes on reliability and service rather than drama. Japan Airlines is based in Japan, and that scheduled, full-service model is what most travelers expect from it.
