By our assessment, its strength is obvious at the category level: a unified metallurgical company can tie mining, smelting, processing, and distribution into one chain. The drawback is equally plain — metallurgy is capital-heavy, cyclical, and usually hard on flexibility, so the business lives with big swings and a lot of dependence on commodity markets. In practice this is a world of furnaces, rail loads, and long production lines, not quick consumer turns. It sits among large basic-materials groups, where scale matters more than branding, and that makes it a serious but unsentimental kind of company.
