By our assessment, remittance businesses are good at one narrow job: moving funds and handling the paperwork around recipient details, exchange rates, and transfer channels. The downside is that the work is built on fees, compliance checks, and a lot of trust in the process, so it can feel less simple than the word “sending” suggests. In practice there is often little romance to it at all — it is forms, confirmation, and waiting for money to appear where it should. Compared with a bank, it sounds more specialised and more transactional, and that is exactly the lane it occupies.
