Investor AB

Investor AB is what Sweden’s big listed holding companies look like when they are built for long horizons rather than quick trading. By our assessment, its main job is owning stakes in a spread of industrial and service businesses and then letting that portfolio compound under patient stewardship. The strength of that model is diversification with discipline: one vehicle gives exposure to many companies without pretending to be a fund that jumps in and out every week. The drawback is that a holding company is never as simple to read as a single operating business, because its value depends on the mix of investments and how well the portfolio is run. In practice, owning Investor AB means following a balance sheet and a portfolio, not a single product line. Compared with an active fund, it is more anchored; compared with a plain industrial company, it is more indirect. Investor AB is based in Sweden, and that patient-owner profile is exactly what it signals.
