Ingots

Ingots has a heavy, old-money sort of feel, which makes it sound more like a precious-metals business or a holding name than an ordinary company brand. By our assessment, that old-fashioned solidity is the main attraction: it is short, firm, and easy to imagine on a plaque, a prospectus, or a metals-related storefront. The problem is that it says almost nothing beyond weight and value, so it is not much help when a reader wants to know the actual line of work. In practice, a name this bare can feel serious, but it can also feel empty if the business behind it is not equally clear. Compared with more descriptive company names, it gives up information in exchange for a cleaner, tougher sound. It works best when the underlying business is already obvious from context.
