IRANIAN MINISTRY OF INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY is a state intelligence and security body, so its public role is not retail or ordinary administration but surveillance, counterintelligence, and internal security. By our assessment, the name itself tells you the main job, and that also tells you why it sits in a different category from a normal ministry that people deal with openly. The upside, if that word fits here at all, is clear command and a narrow purpose; the downside is the obvious one for this kind of institution: secrecy, coercive power, and very little transparency.
