By our assessment, its real strength is the hospice model itself: a focus on dignity, symptom relief, and steady help at the end of life. The limit is built into that model, since hospice care is not the same thing as aggressive treatment or hospital-style intervention. In practice it means nurses, visits, planning, and a slower, more human pace than people often expect from health care.
