Great River Bank & Trust

Great River Bank & Trust carries the most useful bank-name promise of the lot: it sounds like a place where deposits, lending, and trust services are the real business. By our assessment, that makes it a plain fit for people dealing with a local or regional institution rather than a national brand. The good part is the combination of bank and trust, which suggests a broader menu than a simple storefront bank. The drawback is that the name still stays broad, so it does not tell you how modern, large, or specialized the institution is. In practice, it has the feel of a community-facing bank that would be judged more by relationship and location than by marketing. Great River Bank & Trust sits in the familiar middle ground of American banking names, and that is exactly where it sounds like it belongs.
