Gibson

Gibson means electric guitars first, especially the Les Paul and SG shapes that players pick for sustain, thickness, and a very recognizable feel. By our assessment, its real strength is the way those classic models sit at the center of rock history and still define a certain sound. The trade-off is that Gibson is tied to tradition and a premium price tier, so it can feel heavy and conservative next to more experimental makers. In practice the company is about the neck shape, the hardware, the finish, and the long argument over whether you want that familiar carved-top look or something lighter and sharper. Against Fender, it is the warmer, thicker, more heritage-heavy side of the electric-guitar world. Gibson is for players who want an established sound and are willing to live with the weight and the upkeep that come with it, and its acoustic and bass lines sit behind the electric guitars in public attention.
