Fondation Russkiy Mir

Cultural exchange and Russian-language education are the clearest parts of Fondation Russkiy Mir’s public identity: its work is associated with promoting Russian language and culture internationally. That gives it a more defined purpose than a general commercial company, with language learners, educators and cultural organizations among its natural audience. By our assessment, the focus on language and cultural programming is a genuine strength, since it makes the organization’s basic mission easy to understand. The important qualification is that this is cultural outreach with a national perspective, not a neutral or comprehensive account of every country or culture it touches. Its programs make most sense when considered as language and cultural initiatives, rather than as a general source of information.
