First National Bank Of Pennsylvania is the kind of regional bank people use for checking, savings, mortgages, business lending, and branch access across a wider area than a single town. By our assessment, its real advantage is scale with ordinary banking: enough reach to feel established, but still grounded in branches, loans, and deposit accounts rather than in a huge, impersonal financial supermarket. The downside is that regional banks often sit in the middle, where they are neither as nimble as a small local bank nor as vast as the national giants. In practice, that usually means a conventional banking experience with a fairly broad menu and a lot of familiar forms. It belongs above the tiny hometown institution in reach, but it is not trying to be a global financial brand. The useful thing here is breadth without pretending to be everything to everyone.
