Eritrean Defense Forces

Eritrean Defense Forces is a military institution, not a consumer brand, and it exists for national defense, command, and control. By our assessment, its strength is obvious at the level of function: this is the force that carries the state’s military role, so the name itself leaves no ambiguity. The downside is also built into the category, because a defense force is not something a civilian audience can judge by comfort or polish. In practice, the phrase carries the weight and stiffness that come with armed services, not the easy feel of an ordinary organization. Compared with police or civilian agencies, it sits much more firmly in the hard-security part of public life. What it is not trying to be is friendly or customer-facing, and that is exactly how such a name should read.
