Equinor

North Sea oil, gas production, and the slow shift into offshore wind are what make Equinor more than a standard energy company. By our assessment, it is strongest as a large Norwegian operator with real engineering depth and a serious place in both fossil fuel production and the energy transition. The downside is the obvious one for a company in this space: exposure to commodity cycles and the difficulty of balancing today’s oil and gas business with tomorrow’s cleaner portfolio. In practice that means a company that looks conservative on the surface but is constantly managing big industrial projects, from platforms to wind farms. Equinor sits among the major European energy firms, and it is more state-linked and strategically managed than a private oil brand with only one story to tell. It suits readers who want an energy group that can be read through production assets, not marketing language.
