Enel

Enel is one of the clearest names in modern utility-scale power: generation, distribution, grids, renewables, and a big European and Latin American footprint. By our assessment, it earns its place because it does not just sell electricity; it runs the systems that move it, and that scale matters. The downside is the usual one for a giant utility group: heavy capital needs, regulation, and a structure that can feel slow when energy markets shift. In practice, Enel is a company of turbines, wires, contracts, and long asset lives, so it rewards anyone who wants exposure to the boring foundations of power. Compared with smaller utilities, it is broader and more international; compared with pure renewables names, it is much less narrow. The Italian base suits it, and the business is built around infrastructure first, not branding.
