Emirates NBD

Emirates NBD is a major UAE bank built around everyday retail banking, mortgages, cards, business lending and wealth services, with a strong footprint across the Gulf. By our assessment, its advantage is the mix of scale and state-linked stability that people often look for in a large regional lender. The trade-off is that a bank like this is still a bank: it lives on margins, credit quality and regulation, and it is not meant to be exciting. In practice, it feels like a full-service banking platform rather than a narrow niche product, with branches, digital banking and a broad customer base. It sits among the leading banks in the region rather than beside global investment banks. People who want a main current-account bank or a corporate lender will find it relevant; those looking for a specialist finance boutique will not.
