Duke Energy

Duke Energy is the utility people turn to for electricity and gas, so it matters most in the plainest way: keeping lights on and power moving across large service areas. By our assessment, its main strength is the scale and boring reliability that a regulated utility is supposed to provide. The obvious downside is that customers usually have little choice about the company, and utility bills are never something people look forward to opening. In practice this is a regulated, infrastructure-heavy business with poles, plants, grids, and long-term maintenance rather than a consumer-facing brand. Duke Energy sits with the big U.S. electric utilities, where the comparison is less about style than about service territory and operational steadiness. The company’s U.S. registration is the expected fit for that role, and the work is still mostly about the grid itself.
