Dobb Inc.

Dobb Inc. is a stripped-down corporate name, the kind that could belong to a manufacturer, a holding company, or a small business that wants to keep the sign short. By our assessment, its main feature is how little it reveals: that can feel tidy and serious, but it leaves outsiders guessing about the actual work. The upside of a plain name like this is flexibility, since it does not box the company into one product or one public image. The downside is equally plain, because there is no clue about sector, scale, or customer type. In practice the name is memorable only if the business behind it does something distinctive enough to carry it. Compared with descriptive names, it is much less informative and much more anonymous. Dobb Inc. is all label and no explanation.
