DNB

DNB is the name most people meet as Norway’s large bank, and that is where it makes sense: everyday banking, mortgages, savings, cards and business accounts. By our assessment, its main strength is being a full-service bank with the scale and stability that come from a big national lender, not a niche app dressed up as one. The trade-off is familiar too: big banks tend to be slower, more formal and less nimble than smaller digital challengers, so some people will find the experience plain rather than exciting. In practice DNB feels like the bank you use when you want the ordinary financial plumbing to be in one place, with branches, online banking and a broad product set. It sits above the lightweight fintechs and below the most specialised private-banking offerings, and it is strongest for customers who want one main bank rather than a stack of separate services.
