Crocs

Crocs asks for very little from the person wearing them, and that is exactly why they became impossible to ignore: molded foam clogs, holes for ventilation, and a back strap when you need it. By our assessment, their strength is easy comfort, light weight, and a shape that works for gardens, kitchens, errands, and hospital floors far better than a dress shoe ever could. The downside is also built in: they are bulky, visually odd to many people, and not meant to give much support for serious walking or formal wear. In practice they feel quick to slip on, easy to rinse off, and good when footwear needs to be practical before it needs to look refined. Compared with sneakers or sandals, Crocs sit at the casual, utility-heavy end of everyday footwear. They make sense for people who want something washable and simple; they do not try to be elegant, and that is the point.
