China Telecom

China Telecom is the fixed-line-and-mobile carrier people look at when they want the more infrastructural side of Chinese telecom, including broadband, enterprise lines and internet access. By our assessment, it is good at being a backbone provider: telephone networks, data services and the less glamorous plumbing behind communications. That also means it can feel more institutional than friendly, with service plans and support shaped by scale. In practice you meet it through lines, routers, packages and network coverage rather than through a consumer-brand personality. It sits alongside the other big national carriers, but with a slightly stronger sense of infrastructure than lifestyle. China Telecom is for users and businesses that need steady connectivity and broad service, not for anyone hoping for a boutique telecom experience.
