Central Bank of Iran is the same sort of institution in shorter form: the country’s central bank, responsible for currency, reserves, payments and monetary policy. By our assessment, its value lies in setting the rules and steering the financial system, while the obvious limit is that it is remote, formal and not designed for ordinary consumer banking. In practice it is all about policy, supervision and public statements, so the work is influential but usually hidden from view. Compared with commercial banks, this is the authority at the top of the stack, not a place for day-to-day account services.
