CaixaBank

CaixaBank is the kind of bank people use for everyday money: current accounts, cards, mortgages, savings and branch service, with a strong footprint in Spain. By our assessment, its real strength is that it combines a large branch network with a serious digital bank, so customers can move between app and counter without switching institutions. The trade-off is the familiar one for a large retail bank: fees, paperwork and the slower feel that comes with size. In practice it behaves like a mainstream full-service bank rather than a specialist lender, with online banking doing a lot of the routine work. Compared with neobanks, CaixaBank sits on the traditional side of the line, but with more digital polish than an old branch-only institution. The catalogue’s Spain note matches what most people would expect from it.
