Bunnings is the big warehouse hardware chain Australians use for paint, timber, tools, gardening gear, and a lot of the other things that turn a house into a project. By our assessment, it is especially good at breadth: one place can cover home repair, outdoor work, and the random bits people remember halfway through a weekend job. The trade-off is the scale itself, because the warehouse format can feel impersonal and a bit overwhelming when someone wants only one small part. In practice, it is a place of trolleys, long aisles, and shelves built for choice rather than elegance, with staff who are often more useful for pointing you in the right direction than for a polished retail experience. Bunnings sits far above small local hardware stores in range and price pressure, but it is less curated and less specialist than trade-only suppliers. It is the sort of company people reach for when the list is longer than the patience. The name is closely tied to the Australian DIY habit, not boutique service.
