BURLEDON LTD

BURLEDON LTD has the odd, old-fashioned sound of a place name turned into a company name, which makes it feel more local than descriptive. By our assessment, that kind of name usually belongs to a smaller business that wants a sober, corporate front without spelling out the trade in the title. Its strength is precisely that restraint: it does not try to shout, and it leaves room for the business to define itself elsewhere. The downside is that it tells the reader almost nothing about what the company actually does, so any judgment has to wait for real details. In practice, names like this often sit on signage, invoices and registration paperwork with very little extra personality attached. BURLEDON LTD is the sort of company name that works in a formal setting, but from the name alone it stays a blank, and that blankness is the whole story.
