Asian Development Bank is a regional development bank, so it exists for governments and large projects rather than for ordinary retail banking customers. By our assessment, its value lies in lending, grants, technical assistance and long-term development finance across Asia and the Pacific. The trade-off is that this is slow, institutional work: approvals, policy conditions and project oversight are part of the package. In practice, it is less a place to open an account than a machine for funding roads, energy, public services and resilience work. It sits between the big multilateral lenders and national development agencies, with a public role that is more visible in policy than in everyday banking.
