Aramco

Aramco is the giant state-linked oil company behind crude production, refining, and the sale of hydrocarbons that still power much of the world economy. By our assessment, its strength is sheer scale and low-cost extraction: it operates at the centre of one of the most important energy systems on earth, which makes it unusually influential for a single company. The downside is just as plain, because this is a business tied to fossil fuels, geopolitics, and the long transition away from carbon-heavy energy. In practice Aramco means wells, pipelines, refineries, export terminals, and the engineering discipline needed to keep a huge industrial system running. It sits at the top end of the oil majors rather than among ordinary energy names, and the audience for it is anyone tracking global energy, not a consumer looking for a simple brand. The name carries weight because the whole oil market still feels its size.
