By our assessment, that kind of company is judged less by style than by whether its instruments, disposables, or related supplies are dependable when the work is clinical and exacting. The strength is obvious enough: surgical supplies are a practical business, and good ones have to be consistent, sterile, and easy to handle. The downside is that the public sees very little of that work unless it needs the products directly, so the company can remain opaque from the outside.
