American International Group

American International Group lives in the insurance and risk side of finance, where the product is protection, not a thing you can touch. By our assessment, its strength is the breadth of that business: commercial insurance, risk management, and the large corporate machinery that sits behind them. The trade-off is that insurance is always paperwork-heavy, claims-driven, and slow in places where people would rather move fast. In practice that means policies, underwriting, adjusters, and a lot of attention to wording, exclusions, and process. American International Group sits among the big names in global insurance rather than among simple consumer financial brands. It is for people and companies that need coverage and risk transfer, not for anyone looking for a light, instant service. The catalogue marks it as American, which fits the company’s long place in U.S. insurance.
