Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines runs best as a straightforward network carrier for people flying around the West Coast and beyond through Seattle. By our assessment, it does well with the practical airline basics: a normal route map, a usable loyalty program, and enough frequency on busy routes to make it a real option rather than a backup plan. The trade-off is that it is still an airline, with the usual fare rules, seat differences, and the constant irritation of connection timing. In practice it feels like a solid mainstream choice rather than a luxury experience, and the name still carries the strong regional identity in the Alaska and Pacific Northwest markets. It sits above bare-bones discounters and below the most polished premium carriers, with lounge access and elite perks doing more of the work than glamour. The airline part of the experience is the point, and the boarding line still reminds you of that.
