Afterpay

Afterpay is built for splitting a purchase into four installments, and that narrow job is exactly why people reach for it at checkout. By our assessment, it works best when the question is timing, not credit, because the plan is simple and the payment schedule is visible right away. The catch is that it is not a free pass: missed payments can bring fees, and the service depends on merchants and eligibility rules. In practice it feels like a cleaner, smaller version of short-term credit, with a very specific place in the shopping flow. Compared with a credit card, Afterpay is more rigid but easier to grasp; compared with old-fashioned layaway, it starts the purchase immediately. It suits shoppers who want to spread out a small buy without opening a card account, and it is less useful for larger, messier borrowing needs. The Astrina catalogue records it as an Australian company.
