ALROSA

ALROSA is a large diamond company, and by our assessment, it is at its best when it stays close to that one job: mining rough stones, sorting them, and selling into the global gem trade. The public name is tied to Russian diamond production, so the appeal is scale and a clear place in a very specific market. The downside is that this is a narrow business with heavy dependence on commodity cycles and on the reputation of the sector around it. In practice, a company like this is less about sparkle and more about geology, logistics, and long industrial chains. Compared with jewellery brands or luxury houses, ALROSA sits much lower down the pipeline. It is for people who care about the upstream side of diamonds, not the finished counter display.
