13 COMPANIES

13 COMPANIES sounds less like a single operating firm and more like an umbrella label, and that makes it a bit odd in the best and worst sense. By our assessment, it is useful if the point is simply to hold a group identity together, but it gives almost no clue about what those companies do. The strength is administrative plainness: the name is hard to misread, and it feels made for records rather than for marketing. The weakness is equally concrete, because there is no business story in it, only a count and a noun. In practice it reads like something you would meet in filings before you would meet it on a shopfront. It belongs to the driest end of company naming, where function matters more than personality.
