'NDRANGHETA ORGANIZATION

'NDRANGHETA ORGANIZATION points to a criminal formation, not a normal business, so the name carries a very different kind of weight. By our assessment, it is best understood as the Mafia group associated with Calabria, which makes it a label of organized crime rather than commerce. That bluntness is the main strength and the main problem at once: it is instantly recognizable, but it also means the public association is one of violence, secrecy, and pressure. In practical use, the name tends to appear in reporting, law enforcement, and history, not in any ordinary customer setting. Compared with a company name, it is far more specific about notoriety than about any function a reader could safely use. It should be read as a criminal identifier, and nothing about it suggests a normal service or product.
