Woodstock

Woodstock is documentary filmmaking that treats music culture as a crowd, a mess, and a historical event all at once. By our assessment, its big strength is sheer immediate presence: it captures the scale, noise, mud, and communal energy of a festival without sanding off the rough edges. The trade-off is that a documentary built from live performance and observation can feel sprawling rather than tidy, so it asks for patience. In practice Woodstock feels lived-in and physically dense, the kind of film where the atmosphere is the point. It stands among the defining concert documentaries, and the name still carries that weight without needing much explanation.
