War Dogs

War Dogs is a biography about arms-dealing opportunism, and by our assessment, its best move is treating that world as both absurd and recognizably sleazy. It is strongest when it follows hustling, paperwork, and reckless confidence rather than trying to make the subject noble. That also sets the limit: this kind of biography leans on sharp attitude and cynicism, so it will not satisfy someone looking for an uplifting or reverent portrait. In practice it has the feel of a fast talker’s story, full of swaggering momentum and a sour aftertaste. War Dogs sits closer to a dark business caper than to a classic inspirational biography, which is why it leaves a messier impression. It suits viewers who can take a story about greed without needing it polished into moral comfort.
