Wall Street is a crime drama about money, power, and the culture that grows around them, which is why it still gets cited whenever people talk about finance on screen. By our assessment, its strength is the pressure it keeps on every scene: deals, ambition, and moral drift all sit close together. The downside is that it can feel very tied to its own era, with a style of office swagger and brokerage-floor swagger that some viewers read as dated. In practice it is talk-heavy, sharp-edged, and built on tension rather than action, so it asks for attention more than casual background watching. Against other crime films, it is less about cops and gangs than about the people who make a living inside the system. It suits viewers who want a polished, cynical look at money and status, and not those looking for a simple thriller shape.
