Super Size Me

Super Size Me works as a documentary stunt, aimed at viewers who want an argument delivered through a bodily experiment rather than through interviews alone. By our assessment, it is strongest as a piece of plain, easily grasped advocacy: the premise is simple, the point lands fast, and the film stays memorable because the format itself does so much of the talking. The trade-off is that the method is blunt and leaves little room for nuance, so it feels more like a case being made than a wide inquiry. In practice, that gives it an immediate, slightly confrontational rhythm. Super Size Me sits closer to issue-led nonfiction than to balanced journalism, and the 2004 date places it in the wave of documentaries that turned a personal challenge into a public message. It is worth seeing for the form of the argument, not for subtlety.
