Rush

Rush works as a racing drama for people who want engines, pressure, and cleanly drawn rivalry rather than sentiment. By our assessment, it is strongest when it stays on the track and treats speed, mechanics, and the discipline around them as the point. The downside is that a biography like this is less interested in surprise than in momentum, so anyone wanting a looser character piece may find it controlled to the point of stiffness. In practice it has the feel of a polished sports film with the biography frame kept visible. Rush sits above a generic underdog story because it uses the biography form to sharpen the competition, not soften it. It suits viewers who like sports cinema with real-world edges, and it leaves little room for people looking for broad comedy or a sprawling personal saga.
