REC

REC is a horror film built for viewers who can handle a locked-space setup and want fear to come from escalation rather than explanation. By our assessment, its real strength is the immediate, first-person urgency: the camera feels trapped with the characters, so every corridor and doorway carries pressure. The trade-off is that the handheld style can be abrasive, and the intensity leaves little room to breathe. In practice it is nervous, tight, and relentless, with the found-footage frame doing most of the work. It sits among the better modern infection-and-containment horrors, especially if the appeal is panic and cramped geography. REC is for people who want horror to feel physical and close, and not for anyone who dislikes shaky cameras or sustained stress. By our assessment, it stays effective because it commits to the panic all the way through.
