Iron Man

Iron Man is a superhero action movie built for momentum, gadgets, and the pleasure of watching a self-made hero invent his way out of trouble. By our assessment, it is especially good at making the armor feel tactile and the action easy to follow, even when the scale starts to grow. Its limit is familiar for the genre: the story moves briskly, but the emotional material stays lighter than the spectacle around it. In practice it plays like a clean launch for a larger comic-book style of filmmaking, with quips, repair work, and big metal impacts doing most of the heavy lifting. Compared with darker superhero entries, it is more playful and less grim, which is part of why it became such a baseline. The 2008 action label is exact, and the movie is strongest when it stays close to the machine in the suit rather than to grand mythology. Good for viewers who want bright, fast superhero entertainment; less so for people after weight or sadness.
