Green Book

Green Book takes the road-movie shape and uses it for a familiar but effective buddy drama built around race, class, and manners. By our assessment, its easiest strength is how clearly it keeps the conversation going: the film is at its best when small awkward exchanges say as much as the bigger scenes. The downside is that the story can feel neatly arranged, with conflict and reconciliation sometimes sitting a little too cleanly on the page. It sits closer to mainstream historical drama than to anything rough or experimental, which makes it easy to follow but also less surprising. Green Book is a solid choice for viewers who want an accessible character drama with a polished surface, and it stays most comfortable when it keeps its emotions in clear view.
