Cube

Cube is a horror film that turns a single confined setup into a test of nerves, logic, and patience. By our assessment, its lasting strength is the way the idea itself does the work: the rooms, the rules, and the pressure of not knowing what comes next keep the tension alive with very little decoration. The limit is also built into that design, because the film can feel severe and repetitive if you are not engaged by the puzzle-box format. In practice it is spare, claustrophobic, and more interested in trapped people thinking under stress than in polished spectacle. Compared with bigger horror films, it is rougher and smaller in scale, but that stripped-down shape is exactly why it still gets talked about. Cube is for viewers who like tense genre ideas more than gore or gloss, and it keeps its power by staying simple.
