Crash

Crash is the kind of crime drama that studies collisions between people rather than a neat police case. By our assessment, its strength is the way it links tension, desire, and bad judgment into a tense urban web instead of treating crime as a simple puzzle. The downside is that the overlap of characters and pressures can feel heavy, because the film keeps turning the screw. In practice it is a dense watch, with scenes that ask for attention to tone and small shifts in behaviour. Against cleaner crime films, it is less tidy and more openly uncomfortable, and that messiness is part of its point. It leaves more unease than closure.
