Alien: Covenant

Alien: Covenant is the side of the franchise that pushes hardest toward horror, with a sealed-ship feeling, slime, shadows, and the usual sense that the walls are the wrong place to stand near. By our assessment, its strongest point is how confidently it turns familiar Alien machinery into dread and physical menace. The trade-off is plain: the movie can feel more committed to atmosphere and shock than to clean dramatic clarity. In practice it is a glossy, tense studio horror film that works best when it keeps the tunnel vision on. Against the broader sci-fi side of the series, it is less about wonder than about infection, pursuit, and bodies in danger. People who want a heavy, uncomfortable horror mood will find plenty here, while viewers after a warmer or more reflective space adventure may not.
