shapez

shapez is a factory game about turning raw shapes into increasingly complicated shape-processing lines, and it rewards people who like clean layouts and automation that grows in layers. By our assessment, its biggest strength is the clarity of the loop: extract, split, rotate, paint, combine, and keep expanding until the whole map becomes a machine. That same clarity is also the trade-off, because this is not a story game or a game about constant surprises; the fun comes from planning and from making a tangled system run smoothly. In practice it feels like tidying a problem by building more tools for yourself, then watching the factory slowly swallow your attention. Compared with heavier management games it is lighter and more abstract, but compared with many puzzle games it has far more long-term structure. People who enjoy shaping efficient systems will find a lot here, while anyone looking for combat, characters, or a hand-held campaign will not.
