petrichor

petrichor leans on atmosphere more than on action, and the name alone suggests something quiet, weathered, and reflective. By our assessment, that kind of game usually asks the player to move slowly, notice small changes, and accept a softer pace than most mainstream puzzle or adventure titles. Its strength would be in tone and mood, because a title like this lives or dies on whether its spaces and audio make the idea of lingering feel worthwhile. The downside is that atmospheric games can feel slight if they do not attach that mood to a clear enough loop or challenge. In practice they often offer a calm, observant rhythm rather than a strong sense of progression, which is pleasant for some and too thin for others. Compared with louder indie experiments, petrichor appears closer to the meditative end of the spectrum. It is the sort of game people reach for when they want a quieter session and fewer instructions, but the experience depends heavily on whether the atmosphere itself is enough to carry it.
