Zombie Apocalypse Survival Simulator sounds like a very literal survival game, and that is usually the point: gathering, crafting, fighting off the dead, and stretching limited resources. By our assessment, the attraction of this kind of title is the basic survival loop, where hunger, danger, and scavenging do the work. The downside is just as familiar: once the systems are thin, the game becomes a grind of repetition and small numbers of tools. In practice the genre often asks for patience more than surprise, with a lot of running back and forth for supplies. It sits in the crowded survival genre alongside larger, better-known zombie sandboxes, so the name alone does not promise much beyond the premise. It is for players who enjoy survival systems and do not mind repetition, and it is not for anyone wanting a fresh twist on zombies.
