Zero-K is for players who want a real-time strategy game that stays close to unit control, factory choices, and battlefield positioning. By our assessment, its best side is the scale of its skirmishes and the amount of room it gives for careful map play. That same openness can feel demanding, because this kind of RTS expects attention to many moving parts at once and punishes sloppy timing. In practice it is a game about reading the map, managing production, and reacting fast rather than sitting back and waiting for a grand script. It sits in the long tradition of Spring-inspired RTS design, more for people who like technical control than for anyone wanting a soft entry into the genre. The ceiling is high, but so is the amount of focus it asks for.
