Yasuke Simulator promises a specific bit of historical play, and that makes it more interesting on paper than a generic action title. By our assessment, it is the kind of game people would approach for its premise first: the famous retainer figure, the idea of an unusual setting, and the chance for a playful, low-stakes treatment of history. The trade-off is that a simulator with a joke-like name often has to do a lot with a little, so the systems matter more than the headline. If the loop is shallow, the concept will run out fast; if it commits to the bit, it can be memorable even without great breadth. It sits closer to experimental indie comedy than to a serious sim, and that is exactly the point of the format. Yasuke Simulator will reward curiosity more than expectations of depth.
