Yakuza 4 Remastered

Yakuza 4 Remastered is for people who want the series’ odd mix of street fights, side activities, and melodrama without going back to the original release. By our assessment, its big strength is variety: four playable protagonists, brawling on the streets, and the usual pile of distractions that make the city feel busy. The remaster keeps that structure intact, so the appeal is still the same mix of combat, story, and absurd side content that defines Yakuza at its best. The downside is also familiar: the game can feel stuffed and melodramatic, and its older design shows in the way it moves and presents itself. In practice it is a lot of talking, then sudden fights, then another detour into errands, minigames, or social nonsense. It sits comfortably inside the action-adventure side of the series rather than as a clean standalone reboot, and the number in the title is part of the name, not a promise that it is a neat starting point. Those already at home with Yakuza get more of what the series does well, while newcomers may want an earlier entry or a gentler on-ramp.
